Gourmet Burger Kitchen has a trendy interior and, although a bit more expensive than the average high street burger joint, the delicious burgers and other dishes are huge and freshly prepared with large side orders to match. Catering for vegetarians is provided.
London Underground, National Railway: Richmond
The Gourmet Burger Kitchen menu offers an extensive range of freshly prepared burgers to suit all tastes and appetites.
The menu offers classic flavour combinations such as Chicken, Camembert and Cranberry, and Beef, Avocado and Bacon. It then goes one step further with exciting new burger combinations such as Chorizo and Sweet Potato, Lamb and Minted Relish, or the vegetarian Portabella Mushroom burger.
The specially developed GBK sauces and relishes help to define each burger.
Not just any ingredients will do, Gourmet Burger Kitchen uses only the best ingredients available to create each burger. The oversized sourdough buns are baked each morning by our artisan baker. The Aberdeen Angus Scotch Beef, fresh English chicken and fresh vegetables are delivered each day. Gourmet Burger Kitchen uses only 100% Aberdeen Angus Scotch Beef which is sourced from fully traceable grass reared animals.
We gave this place a shot as a better alternative to other fast food resaurants, however, we were rather shocked at the price of a burger and chips with sauces - £12 each!! We would normally pay that at a good restaurant not something that has the feel of a glorified Mcdonald's. Okay the chicken burgers were better than MCs but they were cold by the time they got to us and so were the portion of chips which we recieved ten minutes after the burgers (of which we had already finished). Also, don't even think of buying a veggie burger for they were worse than the cheaper MaC alternative - just a lot of mush with no flavour and fell apart as soon as you took your first bite - yet were still eight quid for just the burger! Also the decor was poor given the prices and the place was totally empty with no atmosphere and this was on a Friday evening - hardly a dining experience. Given the prices and the fast-food feel to the place I can't see how this chain will last that long, particualry with the up and coming recession. If you and your family are going out for a dining experience then there are plenty of decent restaurants in the Richmond area, to be honest even Nandos/TGIs is better in value and at least have some atmosphere. Don't waste your money on this rip-off glorified burger bar.
We went to the restaurant at 5:30pm on a weekday and there was fewer than a handful of people inside. It wasn't clear that you had to go up to the counter to order food - but that is how it works. A glass of water we requested did not materialise. The burger I had was good quality and tasty, although I had too accept my second choice as they did not have the appealing sounding buffalo burger available that day. The falafel option I ordered was a rather bizarre burger. Not what I expected and I thought it rather dry. Serving staff not especially welcoming and very little atmosphere. A disappointment.

There is a burger here for everyone! Have been a number of times and always enjoyed the food and fast service.Although the decor is modern and new the whole experience is a bit like going to McDonalds - you have to order and pay for your food at the counter, they then bring it to you once it is ready. Be warned - at certain times of the day and early evening there are a lot of children and associated noise (thanks to the wooden floor). If you go there expecting a low key meal you will be really happy with what you get.
I recently visited The Gourmet Burger Kitchen in Richmond....really enjoyed the juicy burgers, fairly fast services and excellent value for money I think it cost us about £11.00 ahead we didnt have deserts....The only negative comment i would give is that i personally think they could keep the eating area looking a little bit more like a resturant clearing table quickly etc..but overall an excellent venue.
It's burger, but not reallly burger like you know. They prepare a very large range of differents burgers with a fresh sour dough sesame, and fresh and best ingredients. I have taste it and it's really the most gorgeous burgers one I've ever tasted. There is a huge different with the Mc Donalds burger for example. It's really a good place and a nice concept.
