Springtime yoga prescription

Written on 22 Mar 2011, 12:34 PM

I've just returned from my annual trip to India, which I often refer to as my "reality check". Despite what many people think, even yoga teachers are subject to the challenges of 21st century living and it  took me a while to slow down,  to breathe more freely and find a sense of space between my thoughts. Free Yoga for Teens

Written on 19 Aug 2010, 04:07 PM

Yoga has many benefits for young people and my experience of teaching at Hounslow Manor School, Feltham Community College and for Summer Uni  has shown me that young people are open to epxloring how the practice can help them -  mentally, physically and emotionally.

I'll let the quotes from my young yoga students speak for themselves:

"I've enjoyed finding out what my body can do"

"I learnt something today. Don't get too excited and listen to instructions."

"If you're tight in your body you feel stressed."

"When you're calm you can feel someone's energy more easily."

There are free classes for teenagers running for 5 days w/c August 23 at the Hive, Brentford Football Club. Fore more details or to book please contact me tuesday@urbanyogi.co.uk

According to the Yoga Sutras, self-study is the experience of turning the attention inward to become aware of what your mind is doing, how your body is feeling and what your emotions are telling you. This awareness needs to be regularly practiced and sustained, so that... Read more
