I lived in London 3 years ago in Hounslow so I was very lucky to be close enough to Richmond. I was shown this pub by someone from the area and I continued to go back almost every week. It was such a friendly place to be especially when my friend left and I was alone. I used to sit there for hours just drinking and writing home. I was introduced to Honey Dew organic beer here. I absolutely loved it. I'm going to London tomorrow for a few days and I plan on revisiting my home away from home=)
So we were in Richmond, the rugby started in 10 minutes (early match 12pm), we needed somewhere to get out of the cold, somewhere where we could se the game, somewhere that would feed us hearty grub, and ideally somewhere that we could spread the days papers out and pick at them during lulls in the match. We happened upon the Angel and Crown and it fulfilled on all of the above, adding good Fullers beer, a snug with leather sofas, several plasmas (one of which pointed directly at said sofa) and a raging (gas) fire. The piece de resistance was a trip to the gents' at half time where the match analysis was piped in through a couple of strategic speakers. Great touch. If you like rugby, fires, hearty food, nice beers and a relaxed atmosphere try it.PS its hidden behind Tesco make sure you check the map...3 minutesish from Richmond station.
